You heard us. Today, we're launching our integration with Amazon Alexa so you can get a ride without lifting a finger. Now Alexa can request rides, tip your driver, and even remember your home and work addresses. With Alexa, commuting is now as easy as saying, “Alexa, ask Lyft for a Lyft Line to work.”
Alexa is Lyft's first voice service integration to go live and was built during a team hackathon in early 2016. The idea came from Lyft developer tools engineer Roy, who had recently bought an Amazon Echo for his home. With two kids, Roy's hands were often full. He soon realized how useful Alexa could be for busy Lyft users.
Using the Lyft API, Roy and our team worked to bring the ease and delight of the Lyft experience to Alexa. Beyond supporting the full ride flow, the Lyft skill comes with custom music from LA rapper and producer Marvel Alexander.

On-the-go Alexa customers can now ask Alexa to order a Lyft or even tip their driver,” said Rob Pulciani, Director Amazon Alexa. “All you have to do is say 'Alexa, ask Lyft to call a ride,' and you're on your way.
