Barnsdall Art Park
Every Friday this summer, starting this weekend through Labor Day, the good people of Los Angeles can visit the Barnsdall Art Park in Los Feliz to unwind and get the weekend started on the right note. Particularly, a tannic note from main sponsor organization, Silverlake Wine.

Griffith Park
Prefer a great view while getting in a great workout? Say hello to arguably the best urban hike in the country - Griffith Park. There is an excellent ~4 mile hike that passes the Hollywood sign, the Griffith Observatory, the city of Glendale, and has some of the best views of LA's skyline in the city. On a clear day, you may also be able to see Catalina Island in the distance.

Park next to The Greek Theater, where you can start your loop across from the iconic music venue. You'll sweat and take incredible pictures before finding yourself back at the parking lot. Tourists will flock to Runyon Canyon for an easier stroll and a chance to see a celebrity. Do yourself a favor and take the hike less traveled.

For The Record: Live
Prepare to be entertained! This series of theatrical performances represents some of the best that LA has to offer, but without the Hamilton lineup or price tag. Each For The Record play highlights soundtracks from the works of a different famous director - from Tarantino to John Hughes and more - and is an immersive theatrical experience that happens not just in front of you, but also around you. Vanity Fair calls it "A post-modern, unique cabaret that is taking the city by storm!"

FTR returns to LA this Fall. Pro Tip: Once it's back, the best place to get inexpensive tickets is on Goldstar. Sit anywhere because the venues are small enough that any seat is fantastic.

The Largo at The Coronet
Last, but certainly not least, from Vol. 1 is one of the premier comedy venues in all of LA - The Largo in West Hollywood. Where else but LA can you watch some of the best comedians on the planet - Sarah Silverman, John Mulaney, and Thomas Middleditch to name a few - in what appears to be a high school theater where assembly is held. The shows are also exceptionally unique, from straight stand-up to debates to improv to interviews. Prices are never bad, but shows sell-out quickly because of the small venue's capacity.

Get there early to grab a pre-show libation at the cool offshoot bar. And, if you're looking to laugh until you cry consider checking out the Improvised Shakespeare Company show, which now consistently has at least 1-2 dates monthly. Ye shalt laugh until doth mouth droppeth open!
