SXSW 2016, you definitely helped Austin stay weird.
The giant ferris wheel is gone, the interactive exhibits torn down, and the general SXSW madness has retreated so Austin can finally return to normal. Well, Austin-normal. We were the official ridesharing partner of the event for the second year in a row, which means it was our duty, nay obligation, to help keep Austin weird. If you weren’t able to make it to the festivities in the Lone Star State, here’s what we were up to.
SXSW visitors could access Weird Mode in the Lyft app, which delivered the following at the tap of a button:
A birthday celebration (birthday not required)
Karaoke on demand, complete with microphone, stage, and gold curtain (crowd not guaranteed)
Ninja vs. horde of fuzzy pink gorillas (50% parkour and 50% bad stage fighting)
- A miscellaneous costume party surprise (think sequined pink jackets, afro wigs, and unicorn masks)
Our CMO, Kira, was a panelist on “Brands Putting People First,” where she spoke about our key brand values and how treating people well pays off. We live-streamed the panel on Periscope for those of you at home.
We worked with some awesome partners to help everyone in Austin stay weird and safe all week long, including Budweiser, who provided discounts on rides home every night.
Evolution Fresh helped keep drivers and passengers cool and refreshed throughout the week.
