Lyft Partners with San Francisco Travel

It’s no secret that we love San Francisco. It’s where the first Lyft ride was shared and the pink ‘stache made its debut. That’s why we’re excited to announce our partnership with the San Francisco Travel Association to make it easy and affordable for visitors to explore the city we call home.

As the first ridesharing partner of San Francisco Travel, we want to make sure that no matter where your trip takes you in San Francisco — from the Painted Ladies to Pier 39 — a Lyft ride is available within minutes. We’ll also be collaborating with San Francisco Travel to ensure that all travelers, whether they’re here for a convention or an event like Outside Lands, know how to access safe rides with Lyft.

“As one of the most innovative destinations in the world, we want to make sure visitors have efficient and convenient transportation options such as Lyft to navigate and travel throughout the city,” said Joe D’Alessandro, president and CEO of San Francisco Travel.

For residents and travellers alike, Lyft is much more than a convenient way to get from point A to point B. Drivers are from neighborhoods across the city and often share their favorite restaurant or hidden coffee shop with passengers, allowing visitors to experience the city like a local. San Francisco businesses also benefit when tourists can easily access more transportation options. We found that last year, the average Lyft passenger in San Francisco spent $18 more per week in local establishments on social activities. That equates to an $80 million net gain in output for the San Francisco economy.

As the first city to formalize a tourism partnership with a ridesharing company, San Francisco is leading the way in embracing innovative technologies like Lyft as part of the transportation ecosystem travelers rely on. We’re looking forward to working with San Francisco Travel to connect visitors with all of San Francisco’s world-class attractions on their next trip to the City by the Bay. Hopefully, they’ll fall in love just like we have.
